According to Wikipedia, Baby Boomers are the demographic group born during the post–World War II baby boom, approximately between the years 1946 and 1964. This includes people who are between 53 and 71 years old in 2017.
Most of us are grey haired – well, unless you chose to cover those silver threads like me!
In Canada, where I live, boomers make up 27% of the population – the largest age group! Not only that, the number of people age 65 and older (the traditional age of retirement in Canada) is 16% – double that of five years ago.
In the US there were an estimated 76 million babies born during the boomer years!
The impact on the economy, culture and history is staggering.
As the boomer generation reaches the senior years and retirement, their needs will shift the economy as well. There will be a greater demand on services that meet their needs – from health care to retirement to recreation and leisure. There are great opportunities for businesses that cater to the senior population. We’ll explore those on this site.
